I remember watching that video when you first matched and I thought, wow, so far away for us, but...YAY! It's finally happened!! Ben's school didn't have a match day ceremony, they all just got emails to open at their convenience. Kind of anti-climactic and hard to celebrate with friends, but I guess it allows people to have their reactions - happy or sad - in privacy?
Yea, that is anti-climactic. All that waiting for an email. I laughed, I cried, it ended up not even mattering considering we're in FL now, BUT it was a good time. : ) You need to plan a celebration!
We went through the match last year but our experience was similar to Colleen's, an email. I was at work when he got it and I think he either sent me a text or forwarded me the email, but yeah compared to that Match Ceremony it was very anti-climactic. DrH's class had a google earth link where everyone could post where they were going, and they had a small happy hour to celebrate. Considering he went to a decent sized private med school, you would think they would have made a bigger deal out of it. C'est la vie.
